Wonder Beard

Wonder Bear

Wonder Bear by Tao Nyeu

Summary: This wordless picture book features a bear that grows out of a garden planted by two small children.  Amazing and mysterious things happen through out the book, taking the reader on a journey of fantasy.

Mini-Lesson: Questioning

Wordless picture books are wonderful for students to develop their questioning skills!  As you turn the pages in this book, chart student questions or have students write their questions on sticky notes to share with the class. You may want to choose specific points at which to stop and generate those questions.

Mini-Lesson: Inferences

Wordless picture books are also wonderful for making inferences with students.  Again, choose points in the book to stop and ask the students “What do you think is happening? This story holds a bit of mystery, so you are sure to have many amazing inferences.  Remind students to have a reason why they are making the inference, to provide evidence or support.
